How do I override pronunciation?
Updated over a month ago

When working on a project, you might encounter words that aren't pronounced as expected by the text-to-speech engine. The new Override Pronunciation feature gives you full control over how specific words, names, or terms are spoken in your scripts, ensuring your content is delivered exactly the way you intend. Whether it's a brand name, technical term, or a unique name with an unconventional pronunciation, you can now make sure it's said correctly, without any guesswork.

You can easily override the default pronunciation by entering custom phonetic spellings or typing the word as you want it to be spoken directly in the script editor.

Steps to Adjust Pronunciation:

  1. Locate the Word: Scroll through your script to find the word you'd like to change.

  2. Highlight the Word: Select the word by clicking and highlighting it in the script editor.

  3. Create Pronunciation Override: Right-click on the highlighted word and select "Create Pronunciation" from the dropdown menu.

  4. Input the New Pronunciation:

    • Enter the correct phonetic spelling, or

    • Type a more commonly understood version of the word.

  5. Apply the Change:

    • Choose "Apply to this instance" if the change is only needed for that specific occurrence.

    • Choose "Apply to all" if you want to apply the change across the entire script.

This powerful functionality ensures that your script is spoken exactly the way you intend, giving you the flexibility to adjust pronunciations manually, and removing any uncertainty when it comes to delivering your content.
